Public Health Lead

Full time / Permanent

Sefton Council is seeking to recruit a Public Health Lead with strong technical skills and a real commitment to improving population health.

The post holder will join the Public Health Department at an exciting and formative time. You will be responsible for leading and contributing to multi agency and partnership networks, you will develop strategic plans and programmes to address health issues and health inequalities and deliver against the public health outcomes framework.

You will be expected to be able to cope with multiple and changing demands, and to meet tight deadlines. A high level of intellectual rigour, political awareness, negotiation and motivation skills and flexibility are required to understand other cultures, advise, challenge and advocate to enable effective working across organisational boundaries as well as being able to influence without direct authority.

The role is one of a number of specialist public health roles and although there is expectation that the post holder will have the experience to be able to be adapt to wider public health priorities, there is an immediate and specific focus on sexual health and substance use, and the successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate wide and substantial experience in both areas. Technical expertise and knowledge of working across multi-agency partnerships, leading service development and complex strategic commissioning in both sexual health services and drugs and alcohol services is essential.
