Corporate Communications Manager - Full-time Permanent Role

Your new place of work

Sefton is a vibrant local authority that is on a journey as it works towards its exciting Vision 2030 with partners.

We have everything from beautiful coast and countryside to pretty villages, industrial areas and the docks. The distinctiveness of Sefton’s towns and villages is integral to our uniqueness; however, it is the people that create the distinct and diverse communities that make it a vibrant place to live, work, visit and invest in.

Praised by the Local Government Association’s (LGA) peer review team for demonstrating real ambition for Sefton, having a strong track record of partnership working and place leadership, and for having a motivated, dedicated workforce, it puts the Council is a strong position to meet the challenges and opportunities ahead.

Your new opportunity

Communications is vital to the Council’s success. We need to be bold and innovative, develop existing audiences and reach new audiences as well as encourage positive behaviour change. This brings with it challenging goals to reach as well as exciting opportunities to explore. From traditional press relations to developing evidence-based marketing campaigns to building our social and digital influence, this role requires a passion and energy.

Do you have the flair and drive to shape how we communicate and the ability to work collaboratively to engage, influence, inform and inspire?

If so, we are looking for an experienced professional to set the strategic direction of the communications activity, drive the reputation of the organisation among all stakeholders and with the ability to provide clear advice and professional leadership at senior level on a wide range of communications opportunities and issues.

You will be working closely with the Council’s Leadership team and elected members to help shape the Council’s messaging, marketing and communications strategies helping us to promote the Council and the wider borough to local and national audiences. You will be highly experienced in engaging with stakeholders, both internally and externally, building, fostering, and maintaining high level partnerships across a complex landscape.

You will lead a multi-disciplinary communications function ensuring all activity is delivered to a high-standard and supports the ambitions and objectives of the Council.

With a ‘One Council’ ethos, you’ll encourage all staff to embrace the values of the Council, putting communities at the heart of everything we do.

Equal Opportunities

A diverse workforce is important to us, our staff bring with them a wide range of experiences, views, ideas, and innovations, and we are committed to providing an environment that recognises, respects, and values everybody’s identity, where individual differences are strengths and where everyone can thrive and maximise their potential. We are always open to learning and growing as an organisation, and we welcome new ideas and initiatives that promote equality, diversity and inclusion.

We are an Equal Opportunities Employer; all candidates will receive equal treatment. Our decision to appoint will be based upon whether an individual’s skills, experience, qualifications, and abilities make them the most suitable candidate for the role.
