Population Health Programme Officer

Full time, fixed term to 1/10/22

Sefton Council are looking to recruit a highly motivated and dynamic indiviudal to join their Public Health team. The successful candidate will have sound public health/health improvement knowldege and experience to support a senior team around a broad portfolio of health improvement programmes and services, which aim to maximise health and wellbeing opportunities for local people across the lifecourse and reduce health inequalities in Sefton.

The post holder will use public health methods to assess the health and wellbeing needs and assets of communities within the target population group, to inform priorities for the commissioning and provision of health and wellbeing programmes and services. S/he will assess evidence and good practice and make recommendations for its implementation in Sefton.

The post holder will develop and maintain effective multi agency delivery partnerships to ensure the necessary skills and capacity are available to deliver agreed objectives. S/he will support the commissioning, monitoring and evaluation of health improvement services and will contribute to the redesign of health improvement programmes across the borough. S/he will undertake engagement with staff, and partners building public health capacity and credibility.

Specific areas of work will be agreed each year with the Advanced Public Health Practitioner, reflecting the priorities within the public health business plan.
