SEND Independent Supporter 

Part time 18 hours per week (Flexible) 

Temporary contract until 30/09/2022  

An opportunity has arisen to apply for a challenging and exciting position with the Special Educational Needs Disability Information Advice Support Service (SENDIASS) in Sefton.   

You will work as part of a small supportive team, seeking to impartially support and advise Parents, carers, children and young people up to the age of 25 with matters relating to Education, Health and Social care.  You will also impartially advise professionals in relation to special educational needs and disability to meet the needs of Sefton children and Young People with SEND.  

You will ensure that parents/carers and young people have access to quality advice and support so they feel empowered to advocate for their children or themselves in all matters related to SEND, health and social care.  

You will manage a caseload and provide support with initial concerns or identification of potential SEN and/or disabilities in a variety of ways - for example school meetings, educational health care requests, appeals, mediations and tribunals. Participating in positive outcomes for the child or young person. 

The successful applicant will require a relevant special needs qualification and experience in SEN. Training will be provided, including IPSEA accredited legal training.
