Your new opportunity
A fundamental priority for Sefton Council and its partners is supporting local communities to improve their health and wellbeing and facilitating the elimination of health inequalities. As Director of Public Health, you will play a pivotal role in leading, empowering and influencing the Borough’s strategy, policy and practice to deliver improved health and wellbeing outcomes for local people.
You will be a leader who has the credibility and skills to work across the whole system including local government, NHS, Voluntary, Community and Faith sector and directly with communities themselves and will fully understand how to maximise and harness the potential improvement opportunities. You will be proficient and confident in working within a political environment and will have a leadership style that supports innovation and creativity whilst ensuring that excellent evidence-based commissioning is the norm.
Reporting as applicable to the Chief Executive and to another Executive Director, you will be the principal advisor to the elected members and council officers on the health and wellbeing of our communities.
In addition to the core specialist public health responsibilities, the post-holder will take on leadership responsibility for Welfare Reform and the Integrated Wellness service.
