The Transport Planning team, which embraces strategic transport planning, highways and structures design and highways development control plays a vital role in supporting the Councils regeneration ambitions. Exciting and transformation projects are being developed for the town centres and a long term programme of activity, aimed at supporting active travel, improved highway safety and public realm and electric vehicle infrastructure. Sefton Council is seeking the services of a committed and enthusiastic Design Engineer with specific experience in the designing, procurement and supervision of transport projects.

As part of the Highway Design Team you will play a significant role in the delivery of the Council’s ambitious Growth and Strategic Investment Programme and transformation of the borough’s transportation infrastructure in line with our emerging Low Carbon Transport Strategy. You will collaborate closely with colleagues with Strategic Transport Planning and Investment and Highways Development Control teams and with colleagues in other departments including Regeneration.

Your role will involve the completion of feasibility studies, optioneering, preliminary and detailed design of highway and other transport projects. The compilation of works information, contact administration and supervision will also be required. It is likely that the roll will also involve completing technical checks on works completed by developers and the Council’s Technical Service Support Services provider.
