Early Years SEND Team Leader
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to join our team as an Early Years Team Leader.
The postholder will operate under the direction of the Early Years Service Manager to ensure the Council’s statutory responsibilities for promoting standards in Early Years in schools and settings; ensuring effective funding, project management and partnership arrangements, are delivered to the highest standards.
The successful candidate will:
- Determine the strategic development of special educational needs (SEND) policy across early years provision in Sefton.
- Be responsible for day-to-day operation of the SEND policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEN or a disability.
- Provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents and other agencies.
With a strong background in SEN and Disability they will:
- Maintain a strategic overview of provision for children in the EYFS with SEND across Sefton,
- Monitor and review the quality of this provision
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of national and local initiatives which may affect Sefton’s policy and practice and
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the use of SEND funding propose changes to improve this
- Provide guidance and CPD to colleagues on teaching children in the EYFS with SEND
- Advise on the graduated approach to SEND support and support EYFS providers in schools and settings to identify children’s SEND needs and secure relevant services.
- Work with early years providers, schools, educational psychologists, health and social care professionals, and other external agencies.
- Act as a key point of contact for providers, schools and other stakeholders and maintain regular communications.
- Line manage the Inclusion Consultants for Early Years and the Portage team.
The postholder must have a degree or training/qualifications relevant to the post with established and evidenced practice of supporting and securing appropriate provision for young children with SEND.
