Independent Reviewing Officer

Permanent Post – Full Time

We are looking to appoint a Foster Care reviewing Officer to join our Safeguarding and Quality assurance unit in Sefton.

Sefton is a great place to live, work, visit and invest. We provide many different services and we offer a wide range of opportunities to job applicants from all backgrounds, ages, skills and interests. Our aim is to have a diverse workforce that understands and represents the communities they serve. We are engaging our communities in creating a borough-wide vision that will promote prosperity and see our communities flourish.

The successful candidate will work alongside the IRO’s who chair Looked after reviews.  You will be situated in the Safeguarding and Quality Assurance unit.  The role is a relatively new role and so with significant links to the Fostering service and the improvements they are leading there is a real opportunity for the right candidate to develop the role and how it functions.

You will possess a significant understanding of fostering regulations, have a robust understanding of safeguarding procedures and be confident in chairing meetings.  You will support the improvement in practice across the teams

If successful, you will also be required to apply for an Enhanced Criminal Record Check from the Disclosure and Barring Service. Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council is committed to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults across the Borough. As such the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act relating to the non-disclosure of spent convictions do not apply to this job. YOU MUST THEREFORE, DISCLOSE WHETHER YOU HAVE ANY PREVIOUS CONVICTIONS IN THE APPLICATION FORM.
