Senior Legal Assistant (Contracts)

Sefton Council’s Corporate Legal Services is comprised of four legal teams with administrative support.  The Contracts and Employment Team provide legal services provide legal services in relation to all contract and procurement issues and employment law.

You hold a legal qualification such as CILEX or law degree and / or experience of working in a legal practice and have demonstrable experience of working with a variety of different types of contracts and of contract law.

You will be responsible for a varied caseload of contract work (including service contracts, contracts for goods and concession contracts, framework agreements and JCT/NEC construction contracts) and for legal advice and support to client departments with minimal supervision. You will coordinate the contract finalisation, preparation and execution process. You will also be expected to support the lawyers in the team on more complex cases and undertake research tasks as required, and to develop your understanding of public procurement and state aid.
