Senior Legal Assistant – Childcare Team

Maternity Leave Cover - 31 hrs per week (may last until March 2021)

Introducing ourselves:

Sefton Council’s Corporate Legal Services is comprised of four legal teams with administrative support. They are, the Childcare and Adult Social Care Team, Contracts and Employment, Regulation and Compliance and Property and Planning teams.

The Childcare element of the Childcare and Adult Social Care Team provide legal services in relation to childcare legal services. The Team comprises of a Senior Lawyer, 6 Lawyers, 1 Principal Legal Assistant 3 Senior Legal Assistants and 2 Legal Assistants and Trainee Solicitors. We wish to recruit to the Senior Legal Assistant post to cover maternity leave and is intended to last for 12 months.

Job requirements:

The post holder will carry a caseload of childcare litigation cases and provide legal advice and support to client departments with minimal supervision, including attending Court and supporting Counsel where appropriate. They may also support the lawyers in the team on more complex cases and assist in the training of the trainee solicitor.

The successful candidate will hold a legal qualification such as CILEX or law degree and / or experience of working in a legal practice.
