Job Purpose:

  • To contribute to the processing of statutory assessments and the production and annual review of EHC plans for children and young people in accordance with the Children and Families Act 2014 and Special Educational Needs Code of Practice 2015.
  • To support the Lead SEN Officer in planning, delivering and monitoring the statutory assessment processes to ensure that Sefton pupils with SEN make good progress and that available resources are used effectively and efficiently. To implement the changes in the identification, statutory assessment and monitoring of pupils with special educational needs arising from the Children and Families Act 2014 and operational delivery of statutory services within SEN and inclusion functions.
  • To ensure that SEN and inclusion services are delivered in line with the principles set out in clause 19 of the Children and Families Act 2014 with children, young people and their parents being supported to participate as fully as possible

The Assessment, Resource & Provision Planning section of the SEN & Inclusion Service is responsible for the processing of statutory assessments and the production of annual reviews of statements/EHC plans for children and young people in accordance with the Education Act 2002 and the Children and Families Act 2014.

The successful post holders will be responsible for ensuring the processes are completed within strict time scales and meeting statutory responsibilities.

You will need to be enthusiastic, self-motivated, literate, and numerate with good IT skills and a flexible approach to teamwork.

This post involves considerable contact with families, schools and agencies and will include dealing with sensitive information. Experience of dealing with the public is therefore essential, as are good communication skills and the ability to work under pressure.
