About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the finance service, for a Strategic Finance Manager to support the Education Excellence service. This challenging and key role will give you the opportunity to be the lead adviser on all aspects of operational and strategic financial management issues within this service.
Reporting to the Deputy S151 officer, and as a key member of the senior corporate finance team, as Strategic Finance Manager you will provide strong visible proactive leadership and a collaborative and business partner approach to the Education Excellence service, including schools. You will be required to liaise and work closely with the relevant Executive Director and Assistant Director to understand their business requirements and understand pressures facing the service, whilst ensuring that the service contributes to and works within the Council’s financial strategy.
The provision of first-class management information to inform decision making at both a service and corporate level, enhanced with insight and expertise, will help you build effective and trusted relationships with senior officers and members throughout the Council.
You should have in depth experience in a senior financial manager role, preferably within local government or the public sector, experience of staff management at a senior level and a demonstrable record of completed projects of an original and technically challenging nature as well as a proven ability to lead transformation activity and manage organisational change and development within a financial / performance environment.
