An exciting opportunity has emerged within Sefton's Travel Support Service due to upcoming retirements. We have both full and part time Technical Officer positions available with the option for job sharing.
The Travel Support Team is responsible for administering and delivering the Home to School Travel Support Policy on behalf of the Council. The service applies to both adults and children, but most work is concerned with supporting children and young people with a special educational need and/or disability.
The team is responsible for a framework of transport providers and travel solutions which enable eligible children and young people to arrive at school on time, safely and ready to learn; and in the longer term to learn life skills around independent travel. The team also provides travel support or facilitates access to the framework for other Council Services, including adult and children social services and schools.
As one of two Travel Support Technical Officers in the team you will support the delivery of the service, providing administrative and operational support. You will be customer facing dealing with emails and calls from the public, clients and contractors. You will process requests for support and assist in the processing of payments to contractors and clients and in the maintaining of systems to record all service activities. You will have experience in the delivery of transport activities and interventions and working with children and young people with special educational needs and/or disability.
You will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with a wide range of people in professional and community settings.
You will have experience in collecting, recording, maintaining data and the ability to work independently and in an organised manner.
You will understand the needs of children and young people who have special educational need disability.
