Opportunities
We currently have vacancies in our Help & Protect, Assessments, Courts Teams and Fostering. All of these teams will see you work closely with children and families with the support of excellent team managers and service managers.
- Our Help and Protect Teams work with a range of families with a variety of histories and experiences. Working in this team is varied and you are able to develop a close relationship with the families you work with. You will be supported with regular supervision and you will work with a manageable number of families to ensure you are able to be the best social worker you can be for that family.
- Our Assessment Teams are at the frontline of our service, you will be the first to have conversations with families about the type of support they need and identify how we can help keep children safe, happy and thriving. You will closely with our new CHAT service, built on high quality conversations and problem solving with other professionals and families.
- Our Court Teams are crucial for ensuring children can live and grow up in a safe and positive environment. They work with families during the court process and keep the child at the heart of their decision making.
- Fostering is a real priority here in Sefton. Joining our fostering team will see you work with children and families and foster carers too. You will be involved in helping children and young people to build new relationships as well as maintaining existing ones. It is important for us that you share our passion for children to be raised in a safe, happy, loving environment, whatever form that may take and you want to be part of making that a success.
Our offer to you
We offer competitive salaries between SCP 26-30 £34,834-£38,223 (pay award pending) for Grade H Social Workers and salaries between SCP 31-34 £38,186-£43,421(pay award pending) for Experienced Social Workers. In addition experienced social worker are eligible to a £3,000 ‘Golden Hello’ payment and additional ‘Market Rate Supplements’ of up to £5,000 in certain areas.
We all know how important time away from the workplace is which is why we offer a generous annual leave entitlement of 28 days increasing to 33 days after 5 years continual service in addition to 8 bank holidays.

If you have;
- A Social Work Degree or equivalent Social Work Qualification and are registered with Social Work England
- A commitment to working transparently; in partnership with children, young people and families and partner agencies in a strength-based way,
- Experience of working with children, young people, and families; using direct work skills and observation to gain the voice and experiences of children and young people,
- Knowledge and experience of childcare legislation, statutory guidance, and best practice research
- Knowledge and experience of the Assessment Framework and ability to assess risk and need,
- Analytical report writing skills and good verbal communication skills
- Ability to make child centred decisions, using evidence-based tools
- Ability to understand and demonstrate a commitment to equality and diversity
- Ability to use your own initiative as well as work as part of a team
- Commitment to your own personal development and professional growth.
