Trading Standards Practitioner - A unique opportunity has arisen in the Trading Standards team.
With the exception, of food standards, the team carries out all the traditional Trading Standards roles, investigating and prosecuting offences around product safety, rogue traders, underage sales, counterfeit goods, animal health & licensing and much more. But with the Port of Liverpool, the UK’s 4th biggest seaport and the largest animal feed port, we also carry out border controls, protecting the UK market from unsafe consumer goods and ensuring the integrity of the animal feed chain. We are looking for a forward thinking, experienced and enthusiastic individual to join a supportive and flexible team of professionals and help deliver an excellent service for our communities.
The successful candidate will have good organisational skills, be an excellent communicator and be confident in dealing with members of the public, businesses, and other agencies. A positive attitude and the ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team are essential.
Whilst the role is suitable for a Trading Standards Officer and it would be desirable for the candidate to hold statutory qualifications and competency in areas such as animal feed/metrology/border work, it is not essential. We would welcome less experienced applicants who are committed to developing a career in Trading Standards. Full support and training will be provided. Salary will depend on level of qualification and experience.
