Bereavement Services are a small team operating within the Operational In House Services Directorate providing Burial, Cremation, Exhumation and Memorialisation facilities throughout the district of Sefton.

We are seeking to appoint a Cemetery and Crematorium Supervisor to work within our Bereavement Services Team.
As the Cemetery/Crematorium Supervisor in the Burials and Cremations team you are responsible for the day to day operation of Grave Digging/Burials/Cremation Service’s and grounds maintenance team including seasonal staff and Crematorium Technicians at Thornton and Southport Crematoria. 

As the supervisor you will be expected to take a hands-on approach and assist with the excavation and backfilling of graves manually or mechanically, making necessary preparations before and after burials as appropriate as well as crematorium operations at both sites. This also includes the 4 cemeteries and 2 crematoria programmed and non programmed grounds maintenance. 

The supervisor role is to provide a caring, sensitive and excellent quality service to members of the public attending the sites and to ensure all operational aspects of the service continue to operate and take responsibility for operational staff management across all sites.
You should also have excellent communication skills with the ability to work as part of a team and independently.
