Social Worker - Mental Health North
Fixed term to 31 July 2023
If appropriate this Salary is supplemented by an AMHP allowance of £1,848 a year paid on a pro rata basis.
Southport’s Adult Mental Health Social Care Team is looking for an enthusiastic and creative social worker to join our team on a short term basis. The successful applicant will not necessarily have experience of working in a mental health environment but will have good assessment skills and be keen to work in a multi-disciplinary setting.
Sefton has two mental health social care teams which are based in the north and the south of the borough and are co-located with Mersey Care’s Adult Community Mental Health Teams. Social workers in the teams work alongside community care practitioners and support workers to provide a person centred and holistic service to adults in Sefton aged 18 to 70 who experience severe and enduring mental illness. The mental health social care teams in Sefton operate independently but have strong links and including operating an innovative borough wide recovery service as part of the teams’ offer to the citizens of Sefton. Social workers are fully involved in the work of the recovery team and oversee the progress of their cases while with the recovery team.
As a mental health social worker you will be working in line with the principles of the Care Act (2014), Mental Capacity Act (2005), Care Programme Approach (CPA) and Mental Health Act (1983 and 2007). Your role will include completing reablement assessments and plans for the recovery service, full assessments of need and eligibility under the Care Act, support planning, Court of Protection work and safeguarding enquiries. If you are a qualified AMHP you would be expected to contribute to the borough wide Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) service.
Mental Health North is based with Mersey Care staff at Southport’s Hartley Hospital however agile working is promoted and a flexible working policy is also available.
