Housing Options Researcher – Full time, 1 year Fixed term

Sefton is a diverse and exciting borough where people can enjoy a great work-life balance. It encompasses world renowned nature reserves, accessible business and retail centres, top class leisure facilities and some of the best coastal and countryside environments. It is an ideal location for accessing Manchester, the North West and beyond by road, rail or air. Sefton is at the heart of the Liverpool City Region, playing an active role in ensuring its success. An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Housing Options Service and applicants are invited for this challenging role in a very busy team.

Working within the Housing Options Team based in Magdalen House (currently working remotely) and working with partners across Sefton, this is a key role in preventing and relieving homelessness.

In this role you will often be the first point of contact that people experiencing homelessness will speak to about their issues.  You will be required to understand the problems that can lead to homelessness, the legislation the local authority has to apply and the steps that need to be taken to provide support.

The role is very much “customer focused, front line housing advice” and as such you must have excellent communication skills and be able to listen to and interpret information relayed to you in order to give accurate advice and assistance in a fast-paced environment.

Knowledge of Housing Law, Welfare and Housing Benefits and experience of helping people with issues surrounding homelessness would be an advantage.

You will be well supported by a Team Leader and other team members as well as colleagues from other departments.

This post is offered on 1 year a fixed term.
