Opportunity:
We have 2 exciting opportunities for Qualified Social Workers in our Young Peoples Teams within the Corporate Parenting Service in Sefton Children’s Social Care. These teams are supported by established Team Managers who have high aspirations for our young people. You will receive support and guidance your team, managers and partners to enable you to be an exceptional Social Worker in Sefton. Our aim is to work with our young people, their families and carers to understand what is important to them; support them to gain independence skills and ensure transitions to our care experienced teams are supportive and smooth.
We are seeking committed and enthusiastic Social Workers who understand the role of a Corporate Parent and are willing to go the extra mile to ensure that all our cared for young people are safeguarded and supported to achieve their full potential. Some of our young people need high levels of direct support due to their vulnerabilities; others may be at risk of harm and/or exploitation. If you are passionate about working with young people, have good communication skills ,a sense of humour and are a great team player, this could be the role for you!
What we require from you:
- Social Work Degree or equivalent Social Work Qualification
- Current registration with Social Work England (or if a social work student, clear date for registration within the next 3 months)
- High aspirations for teenagers and a clear understanding of Corporate Parenting Principles
- Knowledge of human development and family dynamics
- Knowledge of legislation, statutory guidance, best practice research and the ability to prepare analytical, timely reports and statements for Court when required
- Excellent organisational and recording skills; and the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently
- Skills in communicating and listening to teenagers, together with an understanding and dedication to overcome the challenges that 14-17-year-olds can face
- Ability to effectively undertake partnership working with young people, families, and carers
- Knowledge of contextual safeguarding, the Assessment Framework and ability to assess risk and need
- Ability to manage your own caseload with appropriate support, guidance, and supervision
- Ability to understand and demonstrate a commitment to equality and diversity
- Commitment to your own professional development.
