We have several Trainee Client Adviser posts that will support our qualified and experienced advisers to deliver the DWP Restart Programme which is directed at Universal Credit claimants who have been out of work for at least 9 months, to find sustainable employment.  

As a Trainee Client Adviser, you will receive a programme of on-the-job training and mentoring with the opportunity to complete industry recognised qualifications to enhance your progression and career opportunities in the sector.   

Based from our offices in both Bootle and Southport with regular travel to outreach venues, our Trainee Client Advisors will manage a small caseload of clients accessing the service to engage in activities that will progress them towards gaining employment. 

During your training you will learn to and be responsible for:

  • Engaging with clients via telephone to inform them of appointments and welcome them to the service.
  • Completing Initial Meetings with clients using a diagnostic tool to identify goals, aspirations, and barriers to employment - facilitating appropriate short and long-term solutions and interventions as required.
  • Ensuring that clients have an up to date and professional CV, supporting statement and covering letter, tailored appropriately for each application.
  • Providing intensive and structured job search support, guiding participants to register on appropriate jobs sites and ensuring their digital profiles are up to date and visible to employers.
  • Supporting clients to access financial support through applications to our Employability Fund.
  • Monitoring ongoing progression of clients into sustainable employment whilst also developing their job search skills, strategy, empowerment and confidence.
  • Accurate and timely recording and review of all client details and requirements for every intervention/contact.
  • Supporting participants in preparing for job interviews, conducting mock interviews and assessment activity.
  • Meeting all monthly performance targets and Key Performance Indicators.

 You will have:

  • A desire to build a career in providing information, advice and guidance to help our clients explore goals and set actions to progress into training and employment opportunities.  
  • A commitment to undertake a minimum of an IEP L2 Employability Professional qualification and progress onto a L3 or 4 Employability Practitioner qualification through the apprenticeship framework when appropriate.  
  • An interest of the local labour market and the barriers faced by individuals accessing the service.
  • Ability to build knowledge of local training, learning and employment opportunities and the wider LCR area.
  • Confidence in your ability to work in a fast paced, evolving environment with the ability to be organised and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability listen to others, building rapport with a wide range of clients, external networks and colleagues.
  • Great problem-solving skills and able to identify issues and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Digital literacy skills, and data accuracy skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and web-based interfaces.

Provisional Interview Date:  Week Commencing 11th April 2022.  Interviews will be in 2 stages: Stage 1 a Virtual Presentation and Stage 2 a formal Virtual Panel Interview.
