Casual Box Office Assistant    - Hours per week: Various

Outline of main duties:
Maximise ticket sales for The Atkinson, serving customers both over the phone and in person for tickets to all programmes.  Develop and extensive knowledge of The Atkinson’s programmes, activities and services.

Provide information on all current shows, films, events, exhibitions, activities and memberships taking place at The Atkinson.  Maintain the customer database, ensuring records are accurate, up to date and relevant.  Act as first point of contact for the building including reception duties, receiving deliveries and general visitor enquiries.  Upsell as appropriate to meet income targets for ticket sales and donations.  Participate in meetings and events as required.

Contribute to Atkinson promotional activity to develop audiences.  Adhere to all Sefton Council Information Management policies.  Contribute to back of house cleaning as and when required.

Job requirements:

You will have a friendly, confident and approachable manner to maintain a high level of customer service at all times. You will be a reliable person who has an interest in the arts or who enjoys working in customer facing roles.

You will be interested in and enthusiastic about all aspects of The Atkinson’s programmes.

Till experience would be beneficial. The shifts will be a mixture of daytime and evening and will support the performance programme. You will be expected to attend regular briefing and training sessions to keep up to date with developments in The Atkinson’s programmes and services.

Experience/Skills/Abilities: 

Working for a customer focused environment, preferably within an arts or cultural organisation, retail or hospitality.

Contributing to audience development in an events programme, preferably in an arts or cultural organisation

Selling goods and services together with experience of handling cash and other forms of payment.

Working with standard computerised office management and box office systems.

Dealing with multiple priorities, balancing conflicting demands and working to deadlines with limited resources.

Customer service skills, including the ability to resolve issues in a calm and courteous manner

Knowledge of information management and governance protocols including General Data Protection Principles

Knowledge and understanding of The Atkinson’s programme, events and services

Knowledge and understanding of Southport and Sefton’s coast as a tourist destination

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to proactively upsell and cross-sell events, memberships and donations

Ability to work on own initiative, sometime under pressure to meet agreed deadlines

Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, community and commercial partners, to develop a good working relationship and deliver a co-ordinated response.
