Sefton MBC is looking to recruit a committed and enthusiastic Consultant in Public Health to support the Director of Public Health maintain the development of an ambitious and far reaching programme of work.

Public Health is positioned at the heart of the council, operating as a strategic function to support the councils response to the Covid Pandemic.  Public health is also crucial to delivering the Councils Public Sector Reform agenda, which places early intervention and prevention at its core.  The exact portfolio will be negotiated with the successful candidate in light of current and emerging priorities and the knowledge and experience they bring.  However, it is clear that a focus will be supporting the Councils response to Covid and ensuring public health business continuity especially in the support of health care priorities.

Sefton is an area that stretches from Bootle in the south to Southport in the north. To the east lies the town of Maghull and the west is bordered by an award-winning coastline covering Crosby through to Formby and Ainsdale.

We also work on wider footprints where this is of benefit to improving the health of Sefton residents, and where it delivers more efficient, effective and cost-effective programmes. These footprints include the Liverpool City region, Cheshire and Merseyside and other specific Local Authorities in the North west.
